In short

Conformity certificates for apparel, home textiles and consumer goods. Textile exports to Russia and the EAEU also require specific labelling and digital marking (markirovka) besides the EAC certificate.

  • Textile products in Russia and the EAEU are subject to specific labelling and marking requirements
  • Labels must correctly state fibre composition, care instructions and manufacturer / importer details
  • If the product group is covered, digital product marking (markirovka) is required
  • Certificate and marking obligations vary by product group and HS code

What should textile exporters to Russia and the EAEU watch out for?

Important notice: Under the digital product marking and traceability schemes applied to certain product groups in the Russian Federation and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) countries, textile products are also subject to specific labelling and marking requirements.

Textile products exported to EAEU countries should therefore be placed on the market with official import, customs clearance, product labelling and the required conformity certificates, in line with the applicable regulations.

What to check before shipment

  • The fabric and fibre composition is stated correctly on product labels, in line with the regulations
  • Washing and care instructions are prepared appropriately
  • The required manufacturer / importer information appears on the product
  • Where required, the EAC mark is used in the size and visibility set by the regulations
  • If it applies to the product group, digital product marking (markirovka) requirements are met
  • The EAEU technical regulations and certification requirements that apply to the product are checked before export and customs clearance

Important: Certificate and marking obligations may vary by product group, HS code and current practice under Russian / EAEU regulations. A product-level conformity check before shipment is therefore important to avoid customs delays and additional costs.

What to watch for in the textiles & consumer goods sector

In Saudi Arabia, textile products, household and kitchen products, and children’s and consumer products are among the product groups for which the relevant technical regulation and conformity requirements must be checked. The fact that a product falls into one of these categories does not automatically mean that the same documents and tests are required.

In Ukraine, for cosmetics, personal care, textiles, furniture and other consumer products, the required procedure must be determined on the basis of the product’s composition, intended use and the relevant Ukrainian legislation.

SONCAP in Nigeria and PVoC in Kenya are systems under which regulated products are assessed for conformity before export. Whether the product is covered must be determined before shipment on the basis of the HS code and product category.

It is sufficient to share the product name, HS code, technical characteristics, intended use and target country. On the basis of this information, the applicable technical regulation and conformity assessment method are determined.

How long does certification take?

It is not correct to give a single standard duration. It varies according to the scope, the tests required, whether the technical documentation is ready, whether a factory inspection is required and the procedures of the target country.
