What to watch for in the food & packaging sector
ISO 22000 is a Food Safety Management System standard that supports organisations in the food chain in managing food safety hazards systematically and in producing, processing, storing, transporting or serving safe food. The current standard is ISO 22000:2018.
For food products in Ukraine, instead of looking only for a “hygiene certificate”, the product’s status under food legislation, its composition and ingredients, labelling, food safety requirements, production and import conditions and the required registration, notification or conformity procedures must be assessed together.
On the EAEU market, the SGR (State Registration Certificate) may apply to products subject to special requirements in terms of human health, such as certain food-contact product groups; the requirement must be checked separately for each product.
In Algeria, food products are among the product groups that may be assessed under special legislation in addition to the general import conformity control; product-based regulatory analysis is important.
